Brian began singing professionally at a young age, performing as treble soloist with numerous ensembles in his hometown of Winnipeg, including the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir and the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra. A graduate of McGill University under the tutelage of Sanford Sylvan, Brian has established an international career, having been a past member of Opera Lyra Ottawa’s Opera Studio and Virginia Opera’s Spectrum Resident Artist Program. He was an Apprentice Artist at both Chautauqua Opera, where he covered Oroveso in Norma, and Central City Opera in Colorado, where he was Zuniga in Carmen and the Notary in Gianni Schicchi. Other roles include Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte at Brevard Music Center, the title role in Don Pasquale at the Green Mountain Opera Festival in Vermont, Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia at The Capital City Opera and Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv. In 2014 he sang the role of the Duke and covered Frère Laurent in Roméo et Juliette, and was Elder McLean in Floyd’s Susannah at St. Petersburg Opera Florida. He was also the Imperial Commissioner in Madama Butterfly at Opera Lyra Ottawa. In 2015 he will sing Masetto/Commendatore in Don Giovanni at the Peninsula Music Festival in Wisconsin.
